Terms of Service
The deal between you and us, in plain English. By creating an account you agree to these terms.

Who we are
Bedtime Letters is a small business based in the United Kingdom. You can reach us at privacy@bedtimeletters.com, and we will give you our full trading details on request.
What we deliver
One new, original bedtime story for your child, emailed to you each night at the time you choose. Each story is written for that child, and remembers the ones before it. You can read every story in your dashboard as well as in your inbox.
Stories are written by an AI system. Every story is put through an automated safety check against the age you gave us and the things you asked us to avoid, and stories that fail are not sent.
Your account
- You must be 18 or over to open an account.
- You must be the parent or guardian of any child you add, or have their guardian's permission.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself — you are responsible for what happens on your account.
- The details you give us about your child are what the stories are built from, so make them accurate.
Free nights, then payment
Your first 7 nights are free, and we do not ask for a card to start. After that, a subscription is needed for stories to keep arriving.
- The Story is £9 per month (or $12.99 / R99 depending on where you are), which covers one child.
- Each additional child is £4 per month (or $5.99 / R44).
- Payment is taken by Stripe. Subscriptions renew monthly until you cancel. If you subscribe during your free week, your first charge lands when the 7 nights are up — not before.
- Plans shown as “Coming soon” are not on sale and cannot be bought.
Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel at any time from Plan & billing in your dashboard. Cancelling stops the next payment; stories keep arriving until the end of the period you have already paid for. There is nothing to phone up about and no cancellation fee.
As a consumer you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of subscribing. Because the service starts immediately, you agree that delivery begins straight away; if you cancel within those 14 days we will refund you in proportion to what is left. Beyond that, if something has genuinely gone wrong — stories that never arrived, a charge you did not expect — email us and we will put it right.
About the stories
Automated safety checks are good, but they are not a substitute for you. Please read a story before, or alongside, reading it aloud. If a story ever gets something wrong — the tone, a detail about your child, anything that lands badly — tell us and we will remove it and adjust what the next one knows.
Stories are written by a machine and may occasionally contain mistakes or oddities. They are for your family's enjoyment: read them, print them, keep them. Please do not republish or resell them. Everything else — the site, the story engine, the name and the design — stays ours.
Using the service properly
Do not use Bedtime Letters to generate content about anyone without their guardian's consent, to try to produce harmful or explicit material, or to attack, overload or reverse-engineer the service. We may suspend or close an account that does. If we close your account for one of these reasons, we will refund any unused portion of the current month.
What we can and cannot promise
We work hard to make a story arrive every night, and we monitor for the nights it does not. But the service depends on email, hosting and AI providers we do not control, so we cannot guarantee an unbroken run. If stories stop arriving for a stretch, tell us and we will credit or refund you for it.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Beyond that, our liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the previous 12 months. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Changes
We may update these terms or our prices. If we do, we will email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and you are free to cancel before it does.
The legal bit
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you keep the protection of your local consumer law.
